POP CULTURE Xerox multimedia collage
· Choose objects and photos of pop culture icons and labels. Magazine photos must be acquired outside of the studio.
· Xerox the labels and/or pictures so that you will have enough images to cover a 20 x 30 inch sheet of drawing paper. Your collage must include a repetition of images. You may want to repeat the same image over the entire surface of your collage, or repeat several different images.
· Alter the color combinations of the image using a combination of watercolor and colored pencils. You may use markers as well, but the collage must contain a combination of watercolors and colored pencil.
· After you have painted and colored into all of the images that you will use, cut out the xerox images and compose them symmetrically on your drawing paper. Neatness is always important.
What is an icon? One of the characteristics of Pop Art are that the images are often inherently “American.” Consider including your own interpretations of American icons.
